The Reciprocal Borrowing Card Swipe Machine

What should I do if the Reciprocal Borrowing Card Swipe Machine for UVM and St. Michael's College Does not work?

The Reciprocal Borrowing Card Swipe Machine is located at the front desk.

The screen should show an arrow pointing to the right (See Below).

If swiping the card does not work, you can enter the information into the system. You would type the person's ID number using the complete number from the person's UVM and St. Michael's ID card. You would press the "Verify ID#" button. It should display the words "Permitted" or "NO." If the person is "permitted," you can add the person to our system (if they have not been added before) using the how to add a reciprocal student instructions, or how to add a UVM faculty or staff member instructions, or how to add a St. Michael's faculty or staff member instructions.


If you do not see the arrows facing to the right, you can try several things to get it to work.

1) Unplug the power cord

2) Press the Shift & Clear buttons

3) Press the Shift & Void buttons


What should I do if the message "operation card" appears on the screen?

1) There are two cards taped to the bottom of the machine. One card has the word "manager, the other card has the word "clerk."

2) You would swipe the "manager" card first and wait until you see the word "exit." Next, you would press the "enter" key.

3) After pressing the "enter" key, you would swipe the "clerk" card. This will bring you to a screen asking about a meal plan. Press the "enter" key a few times until you get the double arrows that point to the right.

4) If this does not work than proceed to the step listed below.

November 2014 - If all else fails, call Rob Cochran 656-3516 at UVM to have the machine fixed or replaced.
