For the Fall 2012 semester (starting October 1), the Oral Communication Lab will be having set hours in the Library on the 2nd floor, in MIC 204:
MON. 3:30 – 5:30
TUE. 3:30 – 5:30
WED. 3:30 to 5:30
Additionally, there are flexible appointments available outside of the set hours of operation listed above. Students can arrange to meet with OC lab tutors for a one-on-one or small group session for any of the following hours:
Mondays: 9AM – 5:30PM
Tuesdays: 9AM – 5:30PM
Wednesdays: 9AM – 5:30PM
Thursdays: 9AM – 5:30PM
They should contact Eric Ronis (ude.nialpmahc|sinor#ude.nialpmahc|sinor ) at least 48 hours in advance to make such an appointment. For these flexible appointments, OC Lab tutors will meet the student/s by previously arranged appointment in the IDX or in the MIC.
The OC's student tutors will be able to help Lab clients with all aspects of Oral Presentation assignments, including:
· determining the purpose of the speech and working with a clear focus
· researching the topic and organizing the content of a speech
· constructing well-reasoned persuasive speeches
· writing clear and interesting speeches to inform
· improving oral skills, such as expanding the range of vocal choices
· developing appropriate nonverbal communication techniques
· controlling nervousness and developing confidence as a public speaker
We can also help with Small Group Presentation issues!
Typically, if students are encouraged to use the Oral lab's services, some sort of extra credit is extended towards an assignment. The lab can provide the student with the appropriate documentation.
